_What Happens at the Festival
Five songwriting competition finalists will be notified at the beginning of the second day of the Conference. A final competition will be held on the second day of the Festival. Each of the five Finalists must perform hers/his own song in our songwriting competition. The Finalists are also entitled to have one person accompany her or him in the performance. Either can perform vocals or instruments or both. Alternatively, the Finalist may sing to a pre-recorded CD track. Prizes for the KMF Songwriting Competition will be announced at the event. (For reference, Past prizes have included appearances in a BMI Showcase in either New York, Nashville, or Los Angeles; and various acoustic and electric guitars and recording equipment.) |
Songwriting Contest
_Registered attendees* may submit one (1) song to the Kauai Music Festival songwriting competition before the event by the due date shown.
This event is held in conjuction with the KMF Songwriter Conference and is entirely optional. * Please note: To submit your song, you must first be registered to attend the Conference. Entries from people who have not registered to attend will not be considered. Also note that previous KMF Songwriting Contest Winners are ineligible to enter in consecutive years. (i.e. the 2012 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners cannot enter again in 2013, but prior year winners can enter in 2013.) You can submit your entry in one of two ways: 1) Mail a CD with your name & lyric sheet to: The Kauai Music Festival PO Box 566 Kalaheo, HI 96741 PLEASE DO NOT REQUIRE A SIGNATURE FOR A DELIVERY RECEIPT - We often pick up our mail after hours and we can't get your CD if you require a signature. DEADLINE is 5PM Friday, July 5, 2013 - It must be delivered and in our PO Box. OR 2) Email your entry to: support (at) kauaimusicfestival (dot) com with "2013 Contest Entry" as the subject line. PLEASE SEND AN MP3 OF NO MORE THAN 10MB FILE SIZE. Also, be sure to send a PDF, Word, or Text file of your lyric sheet. DEADLINE is 5PM Hawaii Standard Time, Friday, July 5.
